On November 5, 2021, NTTU Student Union held charity event “Young Blood, Young Life” which continued through December 31, 2021. The event, combining NTTU Sports & Health Center and Taitung Blood Donation Station, aimed to encourage students to participate in donating blood together.
Although the blood donation event was originally one of the key activities of NTTU Student Union over the years, it could not continue to be carried out after 2017 because of the shortage of blood donation vehicles in Taitung. Recently, due to the impact of the pandemic, the general public’s willingness to donate blood significantly declined, contributing to blood bank shortage crisis in Taiwan. Accordingly, this event was planned to promote blood donation through the participation of campus students, and to enhance the students' awareness of blood donation. We hope to spread this enthusiasm to each corner of society.
Guo Wuyu, president NTTU Student Union, said that this "Youth Blood, Young Life" blood donation event combined with the 2021 project "College Sex Education (Including AIDS Prevention and Treatment)" run by NTTU Health Affairs Unit. Participating students could take part in education quiz drawing. This event hoped to encourage more eligible students to donate blood to save more lives so as to make contribution to the society.
