Since 2020, NTTU Teachers College has offered interdisciplinary course module on Mountain & Sea Recreation. Course objective is to consolidate NTTU USR project: Taitung Project Y on Joint-Innovation of Good Tribal Travel. The project aims to integrate students from related departments to visit Fushan Fishery Conservation Area in Beinan, Jialan tribe in Jinfeng, and Wuling tribe in Yanping. Students are encouraged to help the development of local industry and jointly conserve local culture.
Teachers and students make use of this course to conduct on-site interviews and to visit water recreational industry. They work with local associations to explore the following topics: business model of water and land activities on Green Island, the sustainable oceanic model that combines ecological conservation and commercial activities, optimization of tribal tourism itineraries, assisting tribal business to run fan page, production of tribal image videos, development of tribal-specific products, participation in market stalls and other commercial activities. This course hopes to promote Project Y with local features of the activity filed.
Participants of "Marine Culture & Recreational Exploration" consist of 3 cross-university elective students, 12 cross-college NTTU students, 3 interns, 11 NTTU outdoor team members, and scuba diving students: total 30 teachers and students, including one local youth from Tsitong tribe with diving expertise.
