Climate change disaster prevention and mitigation education and training in communities of Taitung
Climate change has been one of the most rigorous issues faced by mankind. Universities should play the exemplary role and undertake social responsibilities. In recent years, the Disaster Prevention Center of NTTU has been actively engaged in assisting communities in Taitung and counties and cities around Taiwan in the education and training of disaster prevention, mitigation and early warning. The Science Education Center went to the local communities and primary and secondary schools nationwide for education and training on climate change impact, mitigation, mitigation and action to enhance climate change education for primary and secondary school students.
NTTU Disaster Prevention and Technology Information Center set up in 2007, aims to establish a localized and international disaster prevention and control system through the scientific approach of disaster investigation, research, prevention, and treatment and to become an academic research unit that focuses on the sustainable system development and disaster prevention engineering research with practical innovation and interdisciplinary integration.。
The Disaster Prevention Science and Technology Information Center of NTTU has successfully integrated disaster prevention and relief organizations and civil relief organizations in Hualien, Taitung and Pingtung. We planned the characteristics of the Center based on the requirements of NCDR (National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction, Taiwan). The Disaster Prevention Science and Technology Information Center took the planning, implementation, demonstration teaching and promotion of "Climate Change Disaster Prevention Plan" and "Land Sustainable Development" as the priority and became the expert and facilitator in the field of climate change disaster prevention and mitigation in the eastern region.
